The Eer HaTzedek Organization unites approximately eight hundred families around the world who believe in the teachings of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, who lived about 200 years ago.
His many writings serve as their guiding path in life.
The organization operates a synagogue at
134 Hewes St., Brooklyn, NY 11211.
In addition, the organization hosts lectures for the community on education, and invests greatly in strengthening and unifying the community through various activities such as events, lectures, joint trips, and more.
The highlight of the organization is the annual trip of all community members to the resting place of the tzaddik Rabbi Nachman in the city of Uman, Ukraine, every year on Rosh Hashanah, which marks the beginning of the Jewish year.
There, all community members stay for about a week in a compound built especially for this purpose and gather during the day in the large synagogue built for them, sleep in a guesthouse designated for the community, and eat together in a huge dining hall built specifically for this purpose. Most importantly, they pray and study the teachings of Breslov, and hear many lectures from leading speakers in the field of education according to the unique path of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov.
There are also three additional gatherings throughout the year, in which many community members come to the Ir HaTzedek campus in Uman.
However, the main ongoing activity of the organization throughout the year is its major investment in educating the younger generation, and arranging parent-guidance courses to advise and teach the many parents how to raise their children according to the beautiful path of Rabbi Nachman of Breslov, and how to deal with difficult situations that children experience across all ages.
Another important aspect of the organization is its major investment in developing a new generation of lecturers and educators who will continue to teach this wonderful educational approach. For this purpose, organized weekend retreats are held, during which participants hear fascinating lectures in the field of education.
The organization’s leadership holds regular meetings to discuss the organization’s activities, ways to expand them within the community, and specific cases of individuals who approach us for help with their children’s education. Special attention is given to a very broad range of factors that often affect a child’s education—for example, children with social difficulties, situations where a child is not receiving the necessary learning support, financial hardship of the parents, and many other aspects. After thoroughly reviewing the case together with the school administration, community rabbis, and relevant professionals, decisions are made regarding how and to what extent assistance will be offered.
The organization has already achieved far-reaching successes and, over the years, has earned a strong reputation among the many people who benefit from its activities.
